Fluorescent BulbsFluorescent LampsWelcome to our Fluorescent Bulb page. Changing Fluorescent TubesChanging a fluorescent light bulb is slightly more difficult than replacing a standard one. We will guide you through the process and help you troubleshoot and issues that may arise. 1. Always make sure the electricity is off before working on any lighting fixture. 2. Remove the lens or cover, placing it gently on the ground or table top in a safe and secure place. 3.Before replacing, always check to make sure the hasn't just came lose from the socket. Turn the linear fluorescent tube slightly back and forth just to make sure their was good contact between the bulb and the socket. If you are replacing a "plug-in" type CFL, just wiggle the lamp side to side. For a "screw-in" type CFL, just make sure it was tighten down by turning it clock-wise. 4. Grip the old linear lamp firmly at one end, and rotate the tube 1/4-turn clockwise. This should put the bulbs prongs in line with the loading slot of the lamp-holder. Then gently slide it free and out of the socket (both ends should come out at this point) and put the fluorescent bulb in a safe and secure place so as not to shatter it. When replacing a plug-in CFL, hold the lamp closest to the base so you do not glass out of it's base. 5. Grip the lamp horizontally and align the prongs to both socket openings. Insert the tube and give the bulb a 1/4 turn and the bulb should lock into place. 6. Turn the electricity back on and make sure the bulbs work. If the light does not turn on, try step 3 again. If this does not work, you may have a bad ballast or lamp-holder. We offer a full line of fluorescent ballast and a tips on how to change a ballast as well. |
